Thoughts of...

SO today I saw a flower and it reminded me of Annete, aka, the Flower Lady of New Haven. It reminded me of a terrible day I had had and was walking back to the apartment toward Mari and baby Ciuapilli. Without noticing I bumped into Annete selling her $1 flowers and her smile. I didn't have any cash and frowning she said, " You go give this flower to your pretty baby and tell your wife I say hello". Just like that she made my day 10x better and I had a flower for my ladies. Just remembering.

oh... GO MEXICO

Stealing Mexican baby and killing mexicans

This scares me, a lady in Texas stoled a 5 day old baby from her mother, thank god they got her back but still the story is crazy and the young Mexican couple reminds me of our Ciuapilli. This family is the future of American and just like that someone else tries to take it away. Priscilla Nicole Maldonado in this newborn picture looks really similar to Ciuapilli when she was born.

(Photoblogger is not working so here's the links)
First the news article check out the picture of the baby.

Seconded here's a picture of pilli at birth
http://members.cox.net/fvlopez/images/0C1B5F0I3R_1lg.jpg

I'm glad the Media took this story into account and I hope they don't get too many crazies calling out the fact that this mexican couple almost lost there baby to some crazy lady, while distracting that they are also members of our society. ... Scary times

PS- more scary times - yale wasn't sucky enough to self

Self-mutilation rampant at 2 Ivy League schools

Survey: 17 percent at Cornell and Princeton purposely cut themselves

-----------------------
something I just saw that makes me wanna cry is this botched robbery where they killed all the family in the midwest. Can america stop being afraid of the Scary Brown people from down south? WE ARE PEOPLE TOO and AMERICAN or as the tigres del norte would say SOMOS MAS AMERICANOS

Indianapolis suspect 'started shooting everybody'
All five people in this photo were slain.

Indianapolis suspect 'started shooting everybody'

The slayings of seven family members in Indianapolis last week unfolded when one victim returned home and drew a weapon as two gunmen were ransacking the house, according to documents filed by prosecutors. After a shot was fired, one of the gunmen "started shooting everybody," police were told.

Que descansen en paz.

Multiculturalism

another copy and paste but its a good one.

Assclown cowards

This is the fucking problem

JimWolcott wrote the following

If the New Yorker is wiser and more dovish three years later, it's because it isn't so untethered from reality that it can't recognize when mistakes have been made, lies have been revealed, and a brutal, disastrous folly has been committed. It's seen what an unholy hell Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld have made of Iraq. It's the warbloggers who are insulated, hunkered in their backyard foxholes and waging a tired, irrelevant culture war against imaginary enemies on the effete left. Horsefeathers writes, "Multiculturalism is a form of self flattery, a 'We are the World' incantation, designed to calm the frightened upper west side liberal." Speaking as an Upper West Side liberal, I can tell you that we're not the fraidy cats who have been cowering under the porch since 9/11, and that multiculturalism isn't "a form of self flattery," it's a metropolitan fact of life. We're not nearly as preoccupied with ourselves as the amateur anthropolgists on the right are. Oh well, they have to work out their feelings of inadequacy on somebody, and I guess we're it.

Jim is being nice.

You know what happened in the week after 9/11? New Yorkers buried our dead, did so for a year, and went back to work. These pussies in their gated communities saw every brown skin as someone who would blow up their fucking strip mall and kill their precious little brats.

They're the fucking cowards, they shit themselves when the Sikhs pump their gas, they worry about a brown tide coming from Mexico, they live in a world of fear and cower everytime Bush says boo.

New Yorkers don't. We're sick of Bush's war, not because we're pacifists, but because Osama is still fucking alive. At the end of the day, I could give a shit about Iraq. If the Iraqis are stupid enough to start a civil war, that's their problem. I care about Osama and the fact that his podcasts are still running three years later and so does New York.

I'm tired of 9/11 being used to justiifed the gated little cowards racist pogroms. Michelle Malkin is now ranting about "anchor babies"

You wanna talk about Koreans born in the US, you should talk about Americans born in Korea. The thousands of orphans born to US GI's and Korean women and abandonded. THE reason the Pearl S. Buck Foundation was founded. Because the US government placed no value on their Korean-American offspring. Nor did they with Vietnamese-Americans or Filipino-Americans. Treated like garbage at home, the US government had to be shamed into letting these Americans come to America.

I think it is safe to say they add up to more than 5,000 people.

If these shitbags think we're cowering, they should think again.Jean Rohe's speech at the New School was not about peace and love, but why Osama's head wasn't on a pike, while Bush chased his manhood in Iraq. That's the problem. Osama being free while we murder Iraqi children and let the Heritage Foundation play government with other people's lives.

Multiculturalism is what happens when you live in the world and not behind a gate.

Louie and the Lovers

From Salinias in Echo Valleyone of the original Chicano bands of 1970 produced by the country legend Doug Sahm has a cool 60s 70s creedence clear water revival feel with some Chicanismos intermixed. This is the bands only major label album and they kinda faded after the music scence changed but this CHICANO band was rocking it with the Chicano Movement of old. Kinda wish they'd done some songs about the farm workers but all in all the album rocks and if your cool with some country twangs this album is an intresting representation of the Chicano diaspera even at its start when in our memories it apears so very much monothic in nature. I guess thats just how we remember things.

PS- don't know how I feel about the statement that Texas is such a mellow place. But the song ROYAL OAKIE, is great cuz the chours is "Everyone is stoned at Royal oakie park, everyones having a good time we all love royal oakie park. Play for me Brown fingers!"

Man severs his penis to prove faithfulness

Associated Press
May. 31, 2006 10:14 AM KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A man who apparently severed his penis in an attempt to convince his wife that he was faithful to her was recovering after surgery to reattach the organ at a northern Malaysian hospital, a news report said Tuesday.

The 41-year-old man, who was not identified, got into an argument last Friday with his wife, who found a text message on his mobile phone from another woman. The man was heard by his son shouting that he wanted to prove he was not having an affair, the New Straits Times reported.

The assertion was followed by loud screams and the man emerged from his room bleeding profusely, his 14-year-old son quoted as saying. His wife rushed him to hospital.

Albequerque

So today I"m taking off to New mexico for work. Not terribly excited but it should be fun never have been north of the I-10 there. Otherwise been working on things for the future think they should go well seeing that the present money making is too agrivating to contend with NVS sucks. My involvement with politics will be increasing hopefully on a successful level. still pilli dreaming since she's in California now going on 6 months and with mari's broken tooth and the resulting bills and gas we haven't had a chance to go west. But the blogging will continue even if its on and off. I hope the House does not add all that Bullshit to the Immigration bill and nuestra gente gets a chance to be here legally. But never be surprised what fear and hatred makes people do. Peace will be in NEW MEXICO till Friday.

Plus a late mothers day present from her kids was taking her to a Vicente Fernandez concert in Fresno which I hear was great and my mom loved. Viva Chente!! who look just like my dad.

Mari

ya what she say...

Why I Love the English Only Pushers

Ah, yes. The irony of some English-only fanatic going red in the face in the middle of Arizona - a state with a Spanish name. I love it.

I also love the English-only zealots because they are proving without question that the so-called "debate" about "illegal immigration" has been neither a debate nor about illegal immigration. It has been a good old-fashioned hate-mongering racist attack on Latinos, period.

Why would I love something like that? Four reasons.

1. The hatred comes from fear, and the fear comes from our very real, very impressive numbers. It's just like when the media complained and moaned and wailed about feminism and horrors of free women, right before women's equality became more or less a given in our society. We are witnessing the convulsive death throes of the old power establishment in the United States. We are literally witnessing their self-destruction. Yes, it's ugly. Yes, it's stupid. Yes, it expresses itself through scapegoating and senseless racism. But remember where it's coming from, and remember where we're actually going. We are becoming once more a Latin American nation, end of story. We are becoming once more a nation that realizes "Colorado" "Nevada" "California" and "Viva Las Vegas" are Spanish words. The racist fools can whine all they want, but it won't change a damn thing. Cheers.

2. The Republicans are catering to the far-right racist fringe on this issue, at a huge cost they don't seem to comprehend in a nation where salsa outsells ketchup. The false smile they've put on with regards to "minorities" is quickly slipping back into what it really was and always will be - the bubba-toothed snarl of hatred. Goodbye, inroads into the Latino voter world. Goodbye, power. Goodbye, White House. Goodbye, Republicans. They've taken their feet out of their mouths, only to shoot themselves in them with Dick Cheney's pelet gun. It's almost as much fun to watch as Mexican wrestling.

3. Those who scream "English only" are almost always the same people who speak the language with the least mastery of it. They also lack any grasp of history, current events or - hell, I'll just say it - a brain. By standing proudly for ignorance and monolingualism in a global economy and environment that requires education and multilingualism to succeed, they might as well have a finger up the nose and another up the ass. They look that stupid. Norway has seven official languages. Every Canadian must learn at least two languages. The isolationist hubris that leads the nose-pickers to BRAG about their monolingualism is hilarious. "Look, Ma, I'm a dumbass and durn proud of it!"

4. When Miami, a city that in many ways is a microcosm for what is happening and will happen in the nation at large (they're about 25 years ahead of everyone else), passed legislation REQUIRING all business to be conducted in English only, the reaction among bilingual people was...to speak English less. That's right. It's human nature. Tell someone they "can't" speak a language, they're bound to go surly teenager on you and speak it LOUDER than BEFORE. Miami is the only city in the US so far where you hear more Spanish than English on the street - even though everyone is perfectly capable of speaking English. By the very DEMAND from the racist right that we stop speaking Spanish (because it scares them terribly, even though they use Spanish themselves every time they say words like "Las Vegas" and "Florida") they are all but guaranteeing a Spanish-speaking future for the United States. Gracias, dipshits. You are building your own coffin. I love you for taking the time to do that. It leaves me more time to read People en Espanol.

from the blog of elmaschingon

El Espíritu No Sabe De Tiempo

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

I wore a watch to sleep because I never knew when I couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night, and I’d toss y turn, then stare at the ceiling before I’d check what time it was. I’m not one for big alarm clocks. “It’s 2:49 am,” I told myself.

I used to contemplate the reason why I’d wake up at this precise time. Was it the exact time I died in some other lifetime? Or perhaps, it was at this time that my spirit fled my body. “Estas espantado,” me derian los abuelos. “¡Apurale, mujer!” la abuela yelled at mamá, “Dame un huevo y esa yerba.”

A friend once told me she went to see a fortune teller, you know, the ones that read your hands, the cartas and own large statues of both Catholic saints and death. Her parents made her visit the fortune teller after she’d randomly lose track of time, suffered from insomnia, and whenever she found sleep, she’d awaken feeling just as tired and haggard as she felt before. It wasn’t depression, my friend told me, it was el espíritu, the soul.

“What about your soul?” I asked.

“Estoy espantada,” she said,”I’ve been for such a long time, that my spirit has a tendency to leave my body even when I do fall asleep.”

“Is that why you feel like shit when you wake up?” I asked.

“Yes, that’s why I feel like shit when I wake up,” she grins, “fucker.”

I ask her to clarify (the whole spirit stuff), since she hasn’t explained what that has to do with time.

“The spirit knows no time. It can come and go as it pleases. Some people have more control of it than others, pero, answer this,” She tells me, “Have you ever seen yourself sleeping?”

I tell her, perhaps, in a dream.

“What if it isn’t a dream?”

I stare at her. And she continues.

“What if that’s really your espiritu watching itself as it returns?”

“¿De donde?” I say with a smirk, “If my spirit is having more fun at night than I am, and this is why I can’t sleep, then I want to be where my espiritu is.”

“You are,” my friend says.

“I’m in two places at the same time?” I ask.

“There is no time!” She says, and rolls her eyes.

“Answer me this then,” I tell her, “So, if there’s no time, then why do I feel I have to be in control of it?”

“You know for someone who believes in ghosts and aliens, you’re more a Scully than a Mulder,” she says.

On one of those nights, when I couldn’t sleep, I grabbed my journal and wrote: When I take my watch off, time isn’t bound to me.

I understand I’m not in control. That watch, is just a safety net, allowing me, with a glance, to direct me to what I should be doing. There are days when I feel that time is at it’s end of its tether, each strand tattering inch-by-inch, I lose it. I’m angry, sensitive, scared, defensive, and anxious all at once. I tell myself that it doesn’t make sense, nothing makes sense. I can’t even breath, the air is thick as if a rag is over my face (where the hell is my inhaler?)…like I’m drunk without even drinking.Se me cierran las puertas, here, now—there is no time.

¿Estoy espantado? My spirit out of the body and it can’t come back in?

But I go about my day trying to ignore this pagan feeling—más Scully que Mulder, my ass. Then it hits me, the fact that I have less time than I did yesterday.
