Well its happened the UFW is not part of the ALF-CIO. The times are a changing and hopefully this will help the labor movement in the long run but the entrenched people are going to have a very hard time swallowing this type of change.

[Update 6.28.05] - the UFW did not split yet, they just joined the Coalition to Win that has the unions that left in them. I doubt the UFW could afford to leave the AFL-CIO otherwise I'm sure they'd bounce.
